@Margaret63 you know Li-ion batteries are more dangerous than fuel as new fire safety building codes are retrospectively being introduced for all classes of buildings, including residential. The only fuel related fire safety standard now in our code relates to storage of flammable liquid (outside of a vehicle) that exceeds 50L. Li-ion fire safety standards will be restricting in many ways and will add significant cost to the build of any future home. There will be no exceptions to new homes. We may even end up seeing the installation of Li-ion batteries in existing homes as no longer being exempt development i.e. you will need to get a complying development certificate or DA.

Li-ion batteries are fine if you can save money from them but they are extremely dangerous and unpredictable.

The codes will also include standards for the location of charging stations.
