I'm having a garage sale this weekend. I'm surprised the number of people asking, "do you take card". What surprises me more is that some just expect me to let them pay by card.

Another surprise was at a takeaway where they have a sign that says "if paying by cash, please have the right money as we do not have change.". I paid them in coins, $21 worth. Then I said "now you do have change".

"Old people are literally dying off and getting out of their purview on their own, it makes absolutely no economic sense to cater to these customers, "
"Old people" make up a considerable part of the customers any business has. As they "die off" they are replaced by the next generation. Ignore them at your peril.
