although I agree with the inevitability of nuclear energy developing in Aus, I remain puzzled by Dutton's shifting the policy to now focus on large scale nuclear reactors. is this because Nuscale have been unable to raise the funds required for their manufacturing plant? why couldn't they raise the readies.
the experience of building large scale reactors has proven such constructions to be incredibly expensive and fraught with engineering issues and cost blow-outs. such would necessitate very large govt subsidies to make nuclear energy generation to be prohibitively expensive for govt - without such subsidisation would leave us paying 5-10x more for electricity.
how does this work out for our nation?
but perhaps the Libs are simply in a hurry to get a policy formed and published in readiness for the election. is it an election winner?
what electorates would they be building such massively expensive facilities in? how will the respond to nimbys?
lastly why aren't the Libs or Nats develop-ing workable policies that would benefit the nation/people instead of being used merely to argue the point(s) during an election campaign?
