Why would this happen though? Buyers can source spod just above $1,000/t on the spot market right (no idea how much volume is being traded and how much is being offered at spot price), but still, I can’t imagine someone will suddenly pay $2k next week at the BMX auction.
Probably more likely that PLS knows there is a certain amount of unfilled demand right now and confident enough that auction will see slightly more margin than current spot.
Very interested to see what price PLS can get and whether this has an impact on market sentiment and short positions.
