Climate change has the potential to weaken the AMOC through increases in ocean heat content and elevated freshwater flows from the melting ice sheets. Studies using oceanographic reconstructions found that the AMOC is now already weaker than it was before the Industrial Revolution.^[5][6][7] However, there is debate over the relative contributions of different factors: Scientists are discussing how much of it is due to either climate change or due to the circulation's natural variability over hundreds or thousands of years.^[8

The Medieval warm and Roman warm periods were hotter than today, did the AMOC stop during those periods.
They used to grow crops in Greenland, back then, obviously the AMOC didn't stop, grapes were grown as far north as Hadrian's wall in England.
