The main point to note is the importance of the platform differences. Why would Edwards continue to have strong market leadership when its valves perform worse than Medtronic? Edwards is a balloon expandable platform (Sapien) and the surgeons like that placement technique. Medtronic (Evolut) is Self Expanding.
DurAVR is a hybrid and offers the best of both worlds, balloon expandable with better results than self expanding. Remember also that Evolut is porcine and Sapien is Bovine. Bovine is considered a better material.
As MactavishNat stated and Coads the annulus size has a lot to do with the results and you have to be careful to compare apples with apples.
When we did the first tablisi they were mostly extreme very sick, small, old ladies with small annuli. This was intended to show just how effective DurAVR was in patients extremely difficult to treat. The competition wouldn’t have even tried.
Also mentioned and often forgotten is the durability factor and not just the initial results. DurAVR is designed to be a valve for life, something the others can only dream of as their performance wains and starts to fail from 5 years on and in some earlier than that. #Adapt!
DYOR and Not advice.
