I think that many, many years ago, there was a rumour that the Earth was square, and if you sailed to the end of the Earth you would fall off. But then the scientists got to together and said that the Earth was round and could sail around it.

In more recent times, I have heard rumour that the Earth is not square or round, but is actually flat.

Some rumours are clearly more credible than others.

Feel free to place whatever weight you think you should on a rumour that current climate beliefs are based on misinformation and whether that rumour could change current plans to decarbonise and the plans to reduce the amount of elements we take from the earth's crust and then pump into the earth's atmosphere.
