I doubt Apple will enter the medical devices space, they are a consumer electronics company. However it wont stop Apple and others offering "hearing aid" functionality, they just wont be able to market it as a hearing aid etc.
That is fine, it brings light to the whole hearing aid sector whether it is OTC or not.
The size of the market which is growing is fine for a company like NUH, a small % of that represents a good outcome.
I dont think that is where it will end up, as I have said numerous times, RealTek is a high volume chip player, the idea they are in this game to make a few chips exclusivley for NUH makes no sense and cannot work economically. They may be Tier 2 in the chip space, no doubt they have ambitions to make the best chipsets and some of their stuff is excellent.
NUH is actually a tech platform company who happens to make buds. and it makes sense why they have gone down this path for the first several years before Realtek, but with RealTek as a chip making partner they need to be leveraging this rather than keeping the same effective strategy they had from day 1.
