imo its simply a market artefact with a new vehicle that has high rate of demand. the EVs we see on the market are mostly those which aren't selling quickly. those priced lower would be snapped up while those asking a higher price remain on the list for longer. just like trading in equities. the greater volume will enable more lower priced vehicles, but currently too few EVs are on the market.
more importantly is the reluctance to buy a 2nd hand EV with the doubts about the number of cycles the batteries complete. more charging cycles means less longevity of the battery life.
I'm very cautious with 2nd hand cars regardless of motive engineering.
