Dont think it was a major policy initiative or big election issue back then more something that slipped under the radar of the general public . It is getting a lot more attention now than it did back then . But the general public is influenced by years of negative sentiment pushed by groups questionable motives . Sadly Australia is well behind the rest of the world when it comes to looking at things scientifically in this particular space.
