So I must admit, I really did not understand the differences between CAMPAIGN MINING vs. CONTINUOUS MINING.
In its most basic terms, campaign mining utilizes the older traditional style of mining in which mechanical "shoveling" is used to load hauling vehicles to transport the mined material to the processing or separating facility.
Definition of continuous mining
Mining in which the continuous mining machine cuts or rips coal from the face and loads it onto conveyors or into shuttle cars in a continuous operation. Thus, the drilling and shooting operations are eliminated, along with the necessity for working several headings in order to have available a heading in which loading can be in progress at all times.
You all may know this already, but I did not. So, I did a little "digging" to learn about the two processes.
Obviously, continuous mining is self-evident in its name, in that it supports a continuous uninterrupted feed of materials.
Now, knowing this, I understand the reason for the press release along with some of your various comments about this being a material event for our company. Sorry to all if i am stating the obvious. But, it was a bit confusing to me, being a complete mining novice.
