I think you'll find that our low levels of unemployment probably has more to do with it. When the welfare system becomes overburdened then things start to fall apart, eg Europe.
'Rich' is anyone earning over $180,000 per year, very recently this rate was considerably lower. Your stereotypically fat cats are few and far between, most taxes are generated from the middle classes.
I find the discussion denouncing the contributions of the 'rich' and how unfairly they (apparently) earned their money somewhat ironic on a stockmarket forum.
