One percent of the land surface of the world is absolutely massive, an absolutely massive amount of land, and wasted metals resources. The same could be achieved with nuclear using 0.001% of the lands surface area for on demand power.
People really gotta wake up. Uranium is pretty much infinite, so it’s not a matter of sustainability, a matter of practicality and sustainability for all the other resources. As for the nuclear waste, we can easily shoot that crap into space or bury it in the ground, without a single worry in the world, and as for insurance being a show stopper, the law needs to get a grip, insurance companies need to get a grip and the world governments need to get a grip and society as a whole needs to get a grip, listen to M schellenberger, nuclear is the solution and we can all be well off. We should all be rich and well off already.

Oh brilliant. An absolute genius idea.
Let's load highly radioactive nuclear waste on top of a rocket and "shoot that crap into space". And pray tell what happens when a launch inevitably goes wrong?
