The US public has taken the bizarre view that it can base its economy on non-physical businesses (ie. tech). Forget the industries that used to form the foundation of life: mining/refining, chemicals, agriculture and manufacturing. As time goes on, you lose the skilled workers who understood these businesses and you become a third world-like country, incapable of supporting itself. The nuclear energy business is just one example: The US mines almost no Uranium, can't enrich it and barely have the skills to build new reactors.
The fact is all stock bubbles burst eventually and this current bubble makes the 'Dot Com' 2000 one like like a pimple on an elephants bottom.
Media hype and FOMO does wear off eventually.
