Now, we could be looking at a pedantic analysis of "refused to condemn the political violence at a white nationalist rally" by parsing 'at the rally' and 'at a subsequent press conference' or simply note that your quote is from the subsequent press conference which is not "the speech to which she refers"

Might you have confused the two separate occasions ?
