Totally agree with all your points. We are on the highway to nowhere thanks to decades of insipid Govt.

No goal. no vision, no plan. Just each week and month passing by trying to not stuff up and taking very little risk.

Personally I think politics in the west has changed from being about vision and planning to managing perceptions. The cause of this I think is 2 main things. The internet and media. The internet is self explanatory with all the crap available online which resonates with the challenged one's and grows legs. The media is the right wing crap that Murdoch prostitutes a few filthy dollars from and again the crap grows legs with the challenged one's. Love or hate Rudd but he's nailed his description of Newscorp and the negative impact it has around the globe. If there's one single thing that needs erasing from the planet to make it a better place it's Newscorp.

An aside would be to lengthen Govt terms to 4 years and give them more of a chance to implement good policy as 3 years is really only 2.5 years if you consider settling in and electioneering. The days of the lucky country have gone forever. Wouldn't be wonderful to be known as the smart country around the world instead of the quarry. Agree about the Lnp also...they are not suited to providing what Australia needs, it's a party which has lost it's way and needs to be laid to rest.

I might agree to 4 year terms but only if there is the ability for the public to kick the mugs out if they're clearly screwing the country as a Trump would do.

The electorate federally is no longer the Lnp's friend. The days of getting into Govt by the crap of fiscal management and smaller Govt are gone. The masses have finally woken up.

The LNP membership is dwindling as old aged and syphilis gets their membership.
Meanwhile, Teals, and Greens are romping it in - Youth and females are flocking to them.
Rich females want their society progressive and the finances central-conservative. Nicely done Teals.

The LNP has been told how to fix it - but their members (like their supporters here on HC) are too old and withered to mount a reasonable campaign to win voters.
