Rudds big mistake was thinking it was the leader's job to take responsibility for his decisions. He should have sheeted the "super-profits tax" on mining back home to his comrades Swan and Gillard (and Henry for that matter).

As any political, sports or corporate Captain knows... you ony ever take the trophies, never the failures ... that's when the 'team' takes the hit coz tha's what teams are for ......
