Some people have holiday homes that are used a few times a year for their holidays. The rest of the year friends and family can use the place or they can be available for short term rental. To boost housing stock in Australia we probably need to build more high density housing near to where people work. There is a lot of resistance to that for various reasons. One being that the roads become choked with parked cars and commuters.
