there'll be less builders available for housing if the arena is being built. its an unnecessary structure that will take workers from all over Aus at a time when we need as many workers on housing as can be mustered.
you're right to be concerned about migration. I agree with the concern but the Abbott govt is the one that set up this debacle. due to his insistence that universities pay their way with minimal govt funding, we are stuck with permanent need for high foreign student numbers.
also the neglect of the trade training means that there are fewer skilled workers to fill business positions so necessary migrant intakes.
its one thing to understand we have a problem, another to understand why we have a problem. there doesn't seem to be a fix for this other than to restore direct funding of universities and, as the Labs are doing, restore skills/trade training at full speed. only then can we reverse the migration problems incurred by Abbott. - this is Abbott's legacy - the stupid little man.
