The cost of infrastructure is so huge that I doubt that FMS could do it for one mine. The article in SMH today shows access to rail is very limited even using the courts. I agree with what you say. It's the infrastructure thats the problem and the big three know it. That leaves an amalgamation of the juniors and that's almost as hard as sharing the toothbrush as you say. What is insane is the parallel line into headland, that screams for amalgamation? The increase in traffic with an up line and a down line coulees be huge. Take a look at the port facility at Headland that FMG has put in. It is beautiful in its simplicity.
I haven't been to Headland for five years. When I was there the plant was screaming for an almost full rebuild. The ownership had changed about five times over the years and the place was a dogs breakfast. My guess is it would have changed a lot in the last five years.
When juniors talk about 6MT a year thats about 25 days use of one ship loader facility. That's why some sort of deal is required.
