The Russian government has had US troops and missiles on their borders for more than 70 years (either as left over from WW2 or from their role in Nato) and there has never been an attack. Nato has never attacked a neighbouring country and has never annexed territory.

Russia has attacked and annexed territory from its neighbours many times since Nato's creation.

Just a wild guess that Nato isn't the problem.
