Here is a link on a study done in 2001 which highlights the fact no economical solution other than landfill was available and how important Tech MHM is sitting on.

Barriers to entry are very high due to the expertise required.
Per 2010 annual report SIMS couldn't even develop a closed loop solution.
MHM have the box seat for expansion due to economics.
All I am waiting for now is official nod of partnership with Alcoa.
