Initially the Australian SAS troops were some of the first to enter the country and engage the enemy, the RAAF were carrying out bombing missions, the RAN were carrying out missions that involved by sea operations and bombing land targets. It is in these operations that the Aust forces used self imposed more restricting rules of engagement than the US's rules and achieved better results.
And although the Australian involvement is now almost existent the same can not be said for the UK involvement.
As someone else has stated the US only knows how to use full military force against another military force in a traditional war situation, when it comes to a situation like Iraq where they are not facing a traditional force and it is as important to win the peace as it is the war, they have not got a hope unless they act smarter and start learning from their mistakes
