Going across the columns:
Date - simple enough
Stock - yep
Value Bought - put in the amount that you have spent on shares (i.e. not including brokerage)
No. Shares - yep
Average - Type in this as you have the cursor highlight in the average cell.....=(click on the value bought cell)*(click on the No. Shares cell) It should read something like, =C6*D6
Sold at? - yep
Gain - I just type this in but you can use a formula if you like
Brokerage fees - I fill this in myself
Total - Type this in....=(the gain cell)-(brokerage cell) It should read something like, =G6-H6
Date Sold - yep
Taxable Gain = If I made a gain, and I sold within one year, I put the gain value in this cell. If the gain is made over 12 months, I divide this number by 2 for the 50% discount.
Down the bottom right I have a total cell. I use the formula...=SUM(click the first total cell and drag it down the column). It should read something like =SUM(I6:I21)
You can shortcut those formulas up the top by dragging the cell down the column. It will use the appropriate and respective cells for each row.
Hope that helps.
