IMO - things like 'transgender day' etc ------- is a pretty good idea, at least worth trying.
I think it's the meaning of such days that's important - as opposed to what the exact day is about on the surface.
To me - I think that the important thing is that all of these days about different groups - the real concept is inclusion
doesn't matter if it's transgenders, homosexuals, disabled, etc etc etc
if these days get us into a culture of acceptance of difference - ie. inclusion -
and we get to the point that we may not even notice such things - then, we have indeed advanced as a species
I'm not going to wait up for it to happen ------- but, it's a rather good idea because non inclusion, non acceptance - has brought humans more pain, suffering, death and war than anything else
it's not only a very bad and easy trait for humans to have - the fear of difference - but, it's also a tool that's been harnessed for political and power purposes
if somehow we could depower this natural fear of difference - then, we would somewhat depower the use of the tool by those who actively use it for their own gains - at the expense of innocent groups and individuals
