So yeah, I do remember being a Pommie to do that each November.
I remember the stories my mother told me about how her father had his lungs affected by Mustard Gas in the first world war where he drove a team of horses around the battlefield to move guns and ambulance wagons.
How he died a miserable death at home in bed from the damage to his lungs.

I suspect only a small % of Australians actually do anything related to ANZACS or commeration on their public holiday, especially if a family member hadn't served.
They'll take the public holiday though
