To charge a tesla during the night with battery storage, whilst I assume you would want to run your home in the evening as well, would see you need 100kwh of battery storage (7 x 15kwh batteries). You will need over 25kW of solar panels (80) in total, to charge them all during the day. Most installations are limited to 15kw.

granted, he was talking about the future.... but then did he say the future was now.
