Why is everyone assuming they are working for free? They are getting paid, obviously.
It says it right there in the announcement, not a cash consideration, which means its NOT in lieu of payment otherwise the ATO would be interested in a company evading taxes.
At the end of the day, they're getting these options for free as per the agreement, on top of whatever else they're being paid. If things go well.. they win, if not, they've lost nothing. Win-win for them.
Wait for the next 4C to see what how much money flows out for "consultation fees".
