I was surprised by the significant claimed increase in power generation in China of almost 10 per cent, presumably compared to the same two months in 2023, but this may reflect weather plus how mainland China continues to build new coal-fired power stations. Not that Albanese, Wong and dangerous Bowen would ever admit that in Federal Parliamentary sittings!
Mainland China is behaving rationally: irrespective as to how much we ought distrust its military ambitions and authoritarianism, it wants its gradually ageing citizenry, commerce and industry to have access to 24/7 reliable electricity rather than the Australian idiocy of buying prime agricultural land and placing thousands of Chinese-manufactured solar panels with a limited lifespan on these hectares. The panels have a lifespan of c.20 years if that. What happens then? Landfill?
