The Israeli strike on an Iranian embassy is about as provocative as they can get. Iran is not going to respond directly because Israel appears to be looking for an excuse to use nuclear weapons on them -- with the full backing of the US of course.
Israel has no other friends globally apart from compromised politicians who have to do whatever they are told -- that arrangement will wear out after a while so it is probably a waiting game to let Israel dig a deeper hole for itself which will drag any other nation like Australia who supports it into the abyss as well.
It is a bad situation and getting increasingly unstable
