For those interested (RE pilot plant actual production) - they produced an initial 5t, shipped in June 2020. Then October 2021 announced they had produced ~30t (just under 1.5yrs later). They also stated in Oct 2021 that the production rate would be reduced as the 2ktpa operation progressed.

Fast forward to Dec 2022 (another 1+ years), they state pilot plant still only had produced ~30t... So they never 'reduced' the rate, they basically stopped it all together.

2020: 5t produced and shipped
2021: ~30t produced / Production rate reduced
2022: ~30t produced / no change in pilot plant production (ie was turned off in 2021)
2023: 2ktpa plant producing / steady state production aim end of Q2
2024 (to date): ~67t produced (includes pilot plant quantities?) / no steady state production yet

You can see that they never achieved continuous production with the pilot plant, in fact they weren’t able to qualify their process for battery grade lithium on a ‘commercial’ scale at all. This is now why they’re in the situation they’re in RE ramp up on a larger scale.

The pilot plant had a purpose other than proving the process on a ‘sample’ scale, yet never achieved that purpose.

I believe this is what Sdaji is getting at with his posts.
