@Ragshak it's not the ownership of the company that's so much the issue, it's where the Li ends up.

Gina and SQM have apparently contracts for the supply of Li with the Chinese.

So all the FIRB has to do is issue conditions on the approval, preventing export to China.

As a last resort the Australian government can separately impose an outright ban upon export of the Li to China, exercising their federal jurisdiction over exports and under the defence power.

Some people are freaking out. Ridiculous, since we have the best Li and lots of it.
The exploration is far from complete. I'm against the takeover in its current form because of the undervaluing of the resource.
China has suppressed the Li price but it can't do that indefinitely. Problems with EVs will be ironed out just like they were with the early days of the modern car. One of the biggest issues has been a shortage of the best form of Li.

Overall it's good that the issue has got the Australian government focused. Because they've been asleep at the wheel on this one.
Someone woke them up, not sure who but I'm personally quite glad it has happened.'

If the sale doesn't go through it won't be the end of the world either, as AZS has huge value and potential in the gold and further Li in particular.
    All IMO. Not investment advice.
