It can only be that there is a view in the market that maybe, just possibly, FIRB and or the Fed treasurer might impose some sort of condition on the transaction that prevents the product going to China which would leave Hancock Prospecting, SQM and Tianqi up the proverbial without a paddle. I am just thinking out aloud here, but wasn't there a spotty kid in Wayne Swan's office in 2009 called Jim Chalmers who would have been there preventing the MMG & Oz Minerals transaction that excluded Prominent Hill from the deal? The added bonus for Jim Chalmers is really that it would screw over Gina Reinhart.... who has very few friends in the ALP.
