On the contrary, I think the successful demonstration would make funding a realistic prospect. Even the chinese funding could come through if they believe the product is a goer. For all we know, some arrangement is being cobbled together as we speak - the company certainly hasn't ceased trading already even with the money about to run out... at least that seems to be the situation based on anouncements to the market.
