I can remember when the first Hyundai cars hit the streets here in Oz and the bagging we gave those early Excels. What a piece of junk, $12500 drive away from memory, cheapn cheerful they said.
Well the brother in law at the time, a no frills, straight up and down accountant bought the coupe excel.
Secondhand too, a year old it was and what piece of junk it was.
Gave us no end of comical relief he did, and he loved that car to bits.
One week the brakes light were on the fritz, next week the headlights woudnt work, then his manual wind down window winder broke off in his hand, could drop the window by giving it a nudge but to put it back up you needed two hands, one on the inside of the glass and one on the outside firmly griping the glass and man handling it back up into its slot.
Then another time I decided to lay down my own pavers on my new driveway over the summer, nice hairing bone pattern on about 250 square metres. Back breaking work all in my own but did finally get it done. Anyway brother in law comes over and parks his bloody Excel on my brand new paving.
Stays about an hour and leaves,
you can guess what happened, yep big pool of oil all over my hairing bone pattern pavers, boy was I mad, the missus said she could see steam coming out my ears, told him in no uncertain terms never ever park that bloody car on my driveway again.

but boy have times changed, making some very sharp looking rigs these days and also moving into the EV space nicely.
