    There is an assumption among the plebs that if Putin is debunked that
    his successor will be pro-west/pro-Ukraine/pro-NATO.

    This News Ltd article expresses the opposite: that someone worse than Putin could replace him
    So the salient message is : be careful what you wish for...eh?
