PPI can sometimes be treated as a fore runner to CPI - higher input prices may lead into higher consumer prices. Like in Aus, it looks as though a lot of US inflation is connected to services - ultimately a lack of labour, which is much harder and slower to deal with than goods related inflation. Methinks it will be a big problem for a long time and will become an important part of the US election
