China (may) be able to put Taiwan away .......but Xi isn't stupid and he will have learnt lessons from putins mistakes : 1. To take Taiwan the cost would be very high 2. the result uncertain 3. the degree of western support for Taiwan may be higher than first anticipated 4.would entail loss of western markets 5. technology is changing warfare - some of that is drones - beware vulnerability of old technology weapons !
all of the first four are a problem for Xi and the second one I doubt he could live with , likely the related third and fourth too - just seems too risky and he sees what putins russia is suffering as a result of their failed venture
point 4 of course implies time needed to adapt ....maybe a few years
