I am only well meaning to my pocket Riverred so it may pay all CTP holders to read the following report fully.

    http://www.ga.gov.au/image_cache/GA9147.pdf

This has a bearing on what JH is up to with the drilling now....just compare to what's going on with JW1 and Surprise and the other planned holes to be drilled shortly.

So go through the report in above link and start at page 17 for the Mereenie and Palm Valley producing well summaries.

Look for comparisons to the recent CTP?s JW1 discovery re ..Permeability/natural Fracture (Porosity readings)/Production status and the formation name of the petroleum bearing unit.

Read the whole report ...you have the weekend at hand and it might make you less nervous.

Bear in mind the date of the report and as we all know flow stimulation techniques are far more advanced now , albeit expensive...CTP may have to use them to produce (not new news!)

The structures cover the Amadeus and there is a certain amount of nearology with these producers to the current CTP drill campaign....no guarantees, but the game is not over by a long shot. Although a few punters might need a bit of Neurology if nothing is found at Surprise. :)

I just hope the drillers are using the right drilling mud mix this time , although air/gas drilling might have been a better option IMO.

Here?s the summary extract for Palm Valley 1 producing well.

    PETROLEUM-BEARING UNIT 1: P1

    PETROLEUM CONTENTS: Gas/condensate
    PRODUCTION STATUS: Producing
    FORMATION: Pacoota Sandstone
    AGE: Early Ordovician
    TRAPPING MECHANISM: Structural
LITHOLOGY: Sandstone: marginal marine; interbedded with siltstone and shale
DEPTH TO TOP OF PETROLEUM-BEARING UNIT : 1717.2 m BRT
POROSITY: Up to 5% (some fracture porosity has been observed)
PERMEABILITY: Low, generally less than 1 md
    TEMPERATURE GRADIENT: Not determined
PRESSURE GRADIENT: ?Possibly overpressured (10133 Pa/m)

    PETROLEUM-BEARING UNIT 2: P2

    PETROLEUM CONTENTS: Gas/condensate
    PRODUCTION STATUS: Dormant
    FORMATION: Pacoota Sandstone
    AGE: Early Ordovician
    TRAPPING MECHANISM: Structural
LITHOLOGY: Sandstone: marginal marine; fine to medium; in parts silty,
    glauconitic, and calcareous
DEPTH TO TOP OF PETROLEUM-BEARING UNIT : 1792.8 m BRT
POROSITY: Less than 5% (mainly fracture porosity)
PERMEABILITY: Low, generally less than 1 md
    TEMPERATURE GRADIENT: Not determined
PRESSURE GRADIENT: ?Possibly overpressured (10133 Pa/m)

Once again..read the whole report...it?s not over the top with Geo jargon .. I would love to see the Log data for JW1 but I am sure it?s not going to happen...maybe freedom of information act may need to be applied...LOL

    Cheers
