I'm just back from five weeks travelling across the US. Many wind turbines all over the place of course. I had dinner one night with a retired banker who has a small farm on which there are wind turbines. Although its only a hobby to him, his farm now produces electricity instead of beef or corn. At $6000 per tower per year, that's not a bad crop, no harvesting or weather worries......
Transporting the massive blades and towers is now common across the US. Their scale when on the ground is massive. Not sure about the noise though. There was one near a service station and the noise was mind-numbing. Even for a few minutes.
