I've had my first book printed last month. "My Whaling Days", now advertised on Gumtree. I have another at the editor now. It is "My Byron Bay Connections". When the railways put the stage coaches out of business, my grandfather built a series of hotels at towns along the rail route which was also where the coaches used to operate. One of those was the old Pier Hotel at Byron Bay, another at Southport. My mother was born at Byron Bay in 1906. Whaling and Byron Bay are connected. I was employed by the whaling company before most in the town were aware that whaling was about to start there.
