The main benefit of charting index futs over indices is that they are tradable, so the volume is real volume that real people are trading. Index charts like XJO can sometimes show volume (depends on platform), but I have no idea what the volume represents! If anyone knows, tell me! Since volume is so important in TA, futs are a better choice.

ahh so its the SPX Jun 24 contracts. I'll have to look into that.

My understanding is the reported volume of an index is the total of the volumes of the individual assets it tracks.
