Who has said that Mbuyu are not going to build a 50MW Gas Turbine plant? The December Quarter release on 31Jan States that a Gas Sales MOU has been signed to supply gas to power up to 500MW of Gas to Power Project. It has been stated that the initial offtake will be to supply to a 50MW power plant.
It was also stated that there are other entities looking at Gas offtake.
Based on what we know and the valuations that have been reported, that we in the region of 1.2tcf of gas available, this will be enough to generate @ 50MW in excess of 20 years. If the generation plant is based on a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine then you can extend the outlook to at least 30 years.
The Eureka Mine will not take much gas at all, and my suggestion is that a Gas Turbine be installed to supply and stabilize the 33KV Sub Trans Network.
The Mbuyu side of the project starting with a 50MW power plant centralized in the Cabora Bassa area as the initial power plant with the plans to eventually expand to 500MW and once we have enough production wells available, expand to 1GW via 330KV/33KV Substation C/W Transmission towers to link into SAPP 330KV network and 33KV Local network.
As the 33kv network is supplied via the 330KV network it will bring stronger stability to the whole region.
