Ya missing the point,
Renewables, electric cars and heat pumps can deliver the same energy services we enjoy today with only 1/3 of the primary energy, put another way, renewable energy is 70% efficient and fossil fuel is 30%, the later is an absolute scam.
A 4 person household electricity bill would be in the range of $700 to $800/quarter, lets split the difference and say $3,000pa, thus household not paying for electricity would pay of the solar system in 5 years, the next 10 years in savings would more than pay for the maintenance and new/replacement parts and still have $15k to spend on whatever, maybe a home battery to store the free renewable energy.
Its no different to buying a new car and replacing it after 10 to 15 years, you have the choice to buy an ICEV or EV, same story, EV 70% efficient and ICEV 30% plus triple the maintenance costs for the later.
Who comes out in front over a 10 year period, hint, its a no brainer.
