IMO tangs, you can't see the forrest for the trees!
Incremental advances and retreats in a war are usually tactical
and they do not portray the general state of the war.
IMO the BBC war map every few months is a better guide to the state of play.
Here's the latest one and not much has happened over the past ear...ie: stalemate :
So the sane and sensible resolution is a temporary ceasefire & negotiations.
At least the rest of the world will know then what both sides red lines are and
what is negotiable . At present its mostly/propaganda/speculation.
