Yanukovych did in fact abandon his presidency.

He made a series of poor choices (or with help via a bribe from Putin) that destroyed his legitimacy.

He voluntarily left the presidency as he knew he had no political future in Ukraine and fled to Russia where he remains today.

Saying the US or EU are responsible for his poor choices is simply lazy repetition of pro Kremlin propaganda.

There was no coup.
