A clever virus can disable the virus software, I remember years ago when I noted Nortons shut down and thought oops something wrong here and yes it was.
Currently using Macafee and have not been plagued as yet by anything. Maybe the sensible thing to do would be to close H.C for a couple of days just in case it does come my way
