With 450-465k Russian KIA and WIA, tens of thousands of Russian vehicles destroyed, Putin's Black Sea fleet decimated and Putin only managing to occupy another 9% of Ukraine from what he had prior to his full invasion of 2022, I would say Ukraine's defense has been nothing short of phenomenal.
The fact that Ukraine is still a free and independent democracy in control of 82% of their country would say that things are going better than planned for Ukraine.
