At the moment it is connected to a grid that supplies 24/7 baseload power.

If I wanted to run the fridge (as it was designed to run) as well as all my other electric appliances off solar, I would need to add more panels than my roof could support and add a storage system that would cripple me financially.

Then I would have to replace everything in (approximately) a decade.

By the way, there’s nothing wrong with solar panels.
They are very practical for some situations, in fact I run my camping fridge as a drinks fridge in my shed using a 200w blanket and use a lead battery storage system in a stand alone setup.

They’re not cheap though and I will be needing to replace the panel and battery soon enough but because I have already forked out the cash for this extravaganza, I may as well try to recoup some of my outlay from these toys.

ps Imagine just how much more electric capacity Oz will need when 30-50% of the road users are driving ev’s.
