Maybe it's part of a double SECRET (probation)* ploy to takeover the company (lol).

The Cunning Plan:
Step 1: Agree to be engaged to be engaged wrt the best asset in the stable.
Step 2: Pull out 10 mins before the engagement party starts.
Step 3: Hope the SP tanks.
Step 4: Lob a hostile bid for the full company, including ~>$65M rehab liabilities across 3 x C&M projects -- two of which hold little prospect of entering production before the end of the decade, if ever.
Step 5: Wake up to bleed the lizard because you chased the magic mushies with a bit too much Kool-Aid before going to bed. (Although a rude interruption, it's worth it for the awesome dreams those mushies elicit.)
